Our Senior M&E Project Managers are responsible for promoting and marketing KPMG Construction Advisory and representing our services at a senior level within both the industry and the firm. They manage the day-to-day operations of their projects alongside their teams, with support from their supervising Director and other senior practice personnel.

A snapshot of your peer group:

  • Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc in Construction Project Management, Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical), Quantity Surveying, or a related technical discipline relevant to mission‑critical environments.
  • Professional Accreditation, ideal but not essential – Chartered status (RICS, CIOB, EI, or equivalent) or working toward chartership.
  • Understanding of hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data centre projects, including mechanical/electrical systems, critical path management, phased delivery, and integration with IT/commissioning teams.
  • Experience with international forms of contract commonly used on data centre projects, including FIDIC, NEC, and major EPC/Design‑Build frameworks; ability to manage contractual risk and change control processes.
  • Experience preparing and coordinating tender packages, evaluating contractor/subcontractor proposals, and contributing to competitive bid submissions for large‑scale technical projects.
  • Experience in leading project teams, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating multidisciplinary consultants and trade contractors on high‑value construction programmes.
  • Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex MEP designs, programme schedules, commissioning requirements, and technical submittals.

Your responsibilities and achievements will evolve as you enhance your career with us. Here is what you can initially expect:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of M&E works on mission critical projects (concept, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover).
  • Develop and maintain integrated master schedules, short-term lookaheads and commissioning plans; track progress and recover slippage proactively.
  • Establish the project execution plan (PEP) covering scope, budget, risk, quality, safety, communications and change control.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design (mechanical, electrical, controls/BMS, CSA) to eliminate clashes and manage interfaces using BIM/CDE workflows.
  • Own commercial performance: validate estimates, manage budgets and forecasts, administer contracts, and control change with clear authorisation routes.
  • Plan and execute procurement strategies for major MEP packages; manage supplier performance, logistics and long-lead items.
  • Chair progress, design, risk, and commissioning meetings; prepare concise reports and dashboards for client governance.
  • Lead commissioning readiness, system turnover, and integrated systems testing (IST) to achieve performance, reliability and availability targets.
  • Identify and mitigate risks; run quantitative and qualitative risk reviews and maintain live risk registers.
  • Drive quality assurance and technical submittal approvals; oversee factory/site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) and snag-free handover.
  • Mentor and line-manage junior project managers; build a high-performing, collaborative delivery team.
  • Support business development, bids and proposals; contribute to thought leadership within the Mission Critical practice

Duties Include:

  • Define project scope, strategy, and success criteria with the client.
  • Set up governance, reporting, and document control in the CDE.
  • Drive feasibility, concept design, and value‑engineering reviews.
  • Lead design reviews and resolve MEP/CSA interfaces early.
  • Prepare procurement packages and negotiate contract awards.
  • Manage change control, submittals, and RFI workflows.
  • Coordinate MEP installation and maintain accurate lookaheads.
  • Track productivity, quality, and safety; implement recovery actions.
  • Oversee testing, inspections, and turnover package completion.
  • Lead commissioning, training, documentation, and final handover.
